Soundcraft Studer has appointed Angel G. Perez to the newly created position of Applications Engineer, Intercontinental, as part of its continuing initiative to better serve the emerging and established markets of the Intercontinental region.
Perez, a veteran with more than 15 years in the audio field, is a recognized professional in the television and audio industry in Puerto Rico. His role in this new position is to support Soundcraft and Studer distributors in the region in all matters related to digital audio consoles. Among his responsibilities, he will be the first line of sales and technical application support for our clients, working with them to enable effective and appropriate use of the product range to meet their specific needs. He will report to Jaime Albors, Senior Director of Sales Intercontinental, Harman Professional and will operate from the company's Intercontinental sales office in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Perez joins Harman Professional from Univision Puerto Rico, a network affiliate from the Univision Network in the United States. Perez was the head audio engineer of the production department and had the responsibility of working with the engineering department to design, select and integrate the audio equipment to be used in their daily and special productions. He also worked closely with the station vendors and rental companies in equipment selection and implementation for various national and international productions.
Perez also worked as freelance audio engineer for various artists and events in Puerto Rico. As an active member of his church, he leads the audio team and has a vast understanding of the house of worship market as well. This is the perfect mix of knowledge, as he doesn't only understand the broadcast market, but the live sound and house of worship markets as well.
"I am positive that Angel G. Perez's contribution to our team and to our distributors will be noticed immediately as our office has been bridging the gap between the factories and our customers. It is a great pleasure to have him as a resource for our distributors, customers and prospects and he will soon be visiting the territory to share his knowledge and expertise among our distributors," Albors says.
Perez comments about his new role, "As a member of the audio production crew in a broadcast environment, I truly understand the needs of our customers and changing situations on a TV station. Having served as a resource to the engineering department, I am also aware of the technical advantages and options that Studer brings to the distributors and end users in all aspects of the market. I look forward to visit the territory and being able to provide turnkey solutions to our distributors, partners and customers as well."
We have recently moved to a new office in the same building at the lovely Egaa Marina (Eastern Jutland/Aarhus, Denmark). In order to speed up the development of EarMaster 6 and make it as exceptional as we intend to, we have hired new collaborators. This also means that we needed more space, and the commercial success of EarMaster 5 has made all this possible.
Our postal address, e-mail contact and phone number remain unchanged.
Silent Way is a freakin' miracle. Thanks to Expert Sleepers, even something as cantankerous as my old EMS VCS3 can be called into duty for something more than simulating cosmic flatulence.
Eight tracks of nuthin' but VCS3 (and a delay), recorded in Logic, using the Silent Way Voice Controller plug-in to keep the old feller in tune. Sure, there are some cosmic flatulence patches, but they give way to Berlin-school sequencery and an utterly masturbatory lead (forgive the indulgence. It's not every day that I can play the thing in perfect tune for this long without the oscillators getting into an argument with one another!)
It's an improv exercise, but if you like old Mark Shreeve or Wavestar, you might find it entertaining. I am just blown away by the fact that Silent Way can tame the old thing.

Taylor Guitars has announced that the company will once again bring its fan-favorite Road Show to guitar lovers across the country this fall at over 100 in-store locations in North America. Now in its fourth year, the award-winning Road Show brings enthusiasts, Taylor clinicians and experts straight from the company's factory in El Cajon, California together for a lively in-store gathering. At each event, Taylor's Road Show team shares insights on the company's guitar making process and demonstrates how body shapes and woods affect tone. After the demonstration, players are invited to take part in the "Petting Zoo": an opportunity to pick up and play a variety of different models, as well as rare and custom Build to Order models. Admission to each Road Show is free.
The 2010 Fall Road Show schedule will kick off in early September with multiple dates along the West Coast with shows in Oregon and Washington, through the Midwest in Missouri and Nebraska, to be followed by dates in Canada and along the East Coast. Each Road Show attendee will receive a complimentary digital subscription to Premier Guitar magazine and while supplies last, TaylorWare gear and Elixir strings. Attendees will have the chance to enter to win the grand prize, an opportunity to build their own custom guitar through Taylor's Build to Order program.
In 2009, Taylor brought the Road Show to over 170 in-store events in the United States and Canada, and held over 30 events throughout Europe and Japan. The Taylor Guitars Road Show was awarded the 2008 Supplier Excellence Award from Music Inc. magazine in the category of Events for putting "the excitement of the company's factory tours into retail dealers across the country."
